A LOCAL theatre production company is gearing up for special performances of a Roald Dahl classic next year.
Far Far Away Theatre will perform an adaptation of James and the Giant Peach in Wombwell in March.
A total of six performances will be held at the George Street Theatre from March 27 to March 30.
Director Jenna Dabbs said: “It is the little touches that make this show a little charmer - the way that we expertly engage directly with our young audiences, the big and colourful characters, the fun and energetic songs, the direct narration, the audience participation with props and the exciting meet and greets at the end of the performance.
“It’s not been without its challenges though.
“I mean, how do you create a giant peach hanging by seagulls and treads flying through the air?
“Thank goodness our musical director can write amazing musical numbers to help the storyline move along.
“Our lives are dedicated to bringing affordable theatre experiences to families.
“We believe that theatre plays a crucial role in developing empathy and allows children to step into the shoes of others, it fires up the imagination and to see a story unravelling before them means the experience stays with them for longer.”
