AN AMBULANCE took almost half an hour to reach a sick woman because the crew got lost trying to find the house on a new housing estate.

Gillian Cropper, 33, of Bramham Croft, Darfield, was having a diabetic ‘hypo’ attack and last week the Chronicle reported how seven-year-old daughter Amy summoned help. But now Gillian has fully recovered the family want some action to put their street ‘on the map’.

Her husband Matthew said it took at least 25 minutes for the ambulance to find the house. “Amy phoned me at the office on Regent Street, Barnsley, to say Gillian was poorly and an ambulance was on the way.

“I went outside, down to the taxi rank by the bus station, got a taxi from town to Low Valley and still got home before the ambulance arrived.

“One of the neighbours had to go to the end of the street and guide them in.”

The Croppers moved into their home almost two years ago but it still does not appear on street maps or satellite navigation systems. Bramham Croft does have its own street sign, but the road is off Millmoor Road which is still sign-posted as a dead end.
