SCHOOLCHILDREN joined world-renowned Egyptologist Joann Fletcher this week to learn about Ancient Egypt.
Kids from Cawthorne Primary attended a workshop at Experience Barnsley on Wednesday as part of the new exhibitions which have been curated by Joann.
‘Gods’ Land in God’s County: Ancient Egypt in Yorkshire’ is now open at Experience Barnsley and ‘From Sackville Street to The Valley of the Kings: The Art of Harold Jones’ is open at the Cooper Gallery.
‘Resurrecting Ancient Egypt: A Monumental Yorkshire Journey’ will open at Cannon Hall on October 28.
As part of the workshops, children enjoyed a visit to both exhibitions, and learned about Ancient Egyptian culture and beliefs, with a focus on the sacred scarab beetle. The children made their own scarab amulet out of clay.
They also be sketched in the galleries at the Cooper Gallery.
