BARNSLEY'S rough sleepers are so desperate for shelter at night some are risking their lives sleeping in commercial wheelie bins.
The shocking problem came to light after town centre businesses complained to Barnsley Council about rubbish being disturbed due to people sleeping in and eating from unsecured commercial waste bins.
One rough sleeper has told of how he narrowly avoided being tipped in the back of a garbage truck when a bin he had been sheltering in was emptied.
Fortunately, he managed to get the attention of bin men and climb out before it was too late.
