THE mother of a ‘perfect’ young baby girl who died in her sleep at just seven weeks old on Friday night says she keeps hoping she will wake up from ‘the nightmare she is in’.

When Callie-Jayne was born on June 2 at Barnsley Hospital her parents, 42-year-old Chris Stone and 37-year-old Amy Galland, admitted it was one of the happiest days of their lives.

But just seven weeks later and their dream has now turned into a nightmare, after she was devastatingly found unresponsive with no prior signs at their home in Bolton-upon-Dearne.

Amy told the Chronicle: “Callie-Jayne wasn’t my first child, she was my sixth - all my others are now grown up.

“It was most certainly the happiest day of our lives.

“She was just perfect.

“She went to bed on Friday night and I woke up like usual for her 4.30am feed.

“I went to the loo before she woke up and then came back but she just wasn’t waking up.

“She’d just slipped away in her sleep.”

Callie-Jayne’s heartbreaking death has devastated the entire family - and Amy admits she’s struggling to cope.

“As you can imagine no parent ever thinks they would lose a child,” she said.

“We died the day that Callie did.

“I just keep think that I’ll wake up from this nightmare.

“We now have to figure out how on earth we will carry on without her - and I just don’t know if I can.

“I’m not coping, I can’t sleep or think straight.”

Callie-Jayne was ‘perfect’ and loved by everyone she met - and Amy admits she is finding some solace thanks to the support of her friends and family.

“Our families and friends have been absolutely amazing,” she added.

“Callie was so loved by everyone she met.

“She gave everyone the best cuddles.”

One of Amy’s closest friends Abbie Freeman has set up a fundraiser in memory of Callie-Jayne with the hopes of giving her the send off she deserves.

Amy added: “Chris and I never in a million years thought about having to put money aside for our daughter’s funeral.

“On top of everything else the stress of all of this hasn’t helped.

“We are extremely grateful for Abbie and all the donations we have received - it will certainly help take the stress off of us a little.

“Any money raised will go towards Callie-Jayne and the send off that she deserves.

“This will be last thing me and her daddy ever get to do for her so it has to be perfect.”

Amy said she wants to thank people for all their support during the toughest period of her life - and she’s urged parents to always tell their children they love them.

“We would like to thank everyone for their continued support, donations and thanking about Callie-Jayne,” she said.

“Please hold your kids tight.

“Tell them you love them because when it comes down to it we will never have that chance again.”
