DORIS Stott will celebrate becoming a centenarian on Monday.

She’s currently a resident at St James Court in Hoyland, but until March this year she was living on her own.

She was born in Waterloo, London, on July 29, 1924, and eventually moved to Barnsley when she met her husband Arty.

She will celebrate with two events over the coming days - one on Sunday and another on her actual birthday.

Her son, Brian Stott, told the Chronicle: “She was living on her own and looking after herself really well until March this year.

“She’s doing brilliantly.

“On Sunday we’re having a family lunch and then on Monday we’re going to be doing a do for her with her friends from coffee mornings and Darby and Joan at Shafton WMC.”

Doris has two sons, Brian and Keith, who has sadly died, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
