COMMUNITY stalwart Doreen Cureton has done everything in her power to make Barnsley a better place.
She has been the driving force behind the maintenance of Churchfield Park, near the town centre, is a member of the ward alliance, runs the town's Forever Young group and has organised various events and charity shows raising thousands of pounds in the process.
This has led to her being nominated for a Proud of Barnsley award by her friend Lilian Hawley.
Doreen currently runs the open mic at the New Inn, Gawber, and her projects for this year include organising and running Picnic in the Park and a coach trip to the coast for elderly residents.
