A CHOIR celebrating its 100th anniversary are gearing up for an event that promises to be the biggest of the year.
Throughout 2024, Thurnscoe Harmonic Male Voice Choir have been partaking in a series of centenary concerts, however have saved the best for last.
The fourth and final concert of the year will take place on November 16 at Wentworth Woodhouse, with special guest appearances from Mayor of Barnsley John Clarke, Mayor of Doncaster Ros Jones and other local dignitaries.
Starting at 7pm in the Marble Saloon of the stately home, the concert will reflect on the last 100 years of music sung by the choir, with a few Christmas hits to get people in the mood for December.
During the concert, a cheque for £900 will be presented to the Bluebell Wood Charity - a charity for terminally ill children and their families - which was raised by the Thurnscoe choir, Barnsley U3A Choir, the Barnburgh Village Singers and the Wombwell Church Choir at a memorial concert in August for Irene Hill, accompanist for many years at the Thurnscoe choir.
