A determined daughter is limbering up for the London marathon after her dad was diagnosed with terminal liver cancer.

Dawn Lettin, 46, has decided to do the run, in spite of the deaths at the Boston marathon on Monday.

She is running for Cancer Research UK and it is the first time she has taken part in a competitive race and she says it makes it all the more special that her dad, Malcolm, 67 is here to watch her take part.

Malcolm of Arundel Drive, Lundwood, was diagnosed with secondary liver cancer in July, but could not receive chemotherapy as they could not find the original source.

"I never dreamt, none of us dreamt he would be here," Dawn, who now lives in Leicester said.

"Hopefully my mum and dad will be looking out for me on the telly. The fact that he's here just makes it all the more meaningful."

Dawn joined a running club, taking part in four to five mile runs and decided to step it up a gear.
