A DARFIELD woman who has let her hair grow for the last 15 years so she could donate it to charity finally reached her goal on Saturday - and sent off 19 inches of her hair to be made into a wig.
Jess Beeby, 27, said she has always to wanted to donate some of her hair to The Little Princess Trust - a charity which makes wigs for children and young adults who have lost their hair due to cancer.
On Saturday, she had her hair cut by staff at MoodyHair in Darfield, who have kindly helped organise the donation.
Jess told the Chronicle: “This year marks 20 years of the charity so I thought there was no better time to do it.
“I’ve wanted to do it for a long time but I’ve wanted to make sure that my hair was long enough to be donated.
“I’ve had it trimmed every now and again but I’ve not had a proper cut since I was 12 and I’m 27 now.
“It got to the point where I was sitting on my hair a lot when I was sitting down so it was definitely time.”
On top of the 19 inches of hair Jess has donated, she’s also raised £600 in cash for the charity - above and beyond what she was expecting.
“Initially I set the target for £100,” she said.
“I didn’t realise that people were going to be so generous.”
