SINCE I last wrote to you all ahead of our previous home fixture, I am delighted to share that the safe standing installation has now been completed in the Norman Rimmington Stand, just in time for this weekend’s clash against Bolton Wanderers.
OR1, along with a section of the away end, is currently awaiting the final legal approvals at the time of writing.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Sports Grounds Safety Authority (SGSA), Barnsley Council, and our internal staff who have worked diligently to bring this project to fruition. A special mention must also go to the Fan Advisory Board, who have supported the club’s management throughout this process with valuable feedback and constructive advice.
Your input has been instrumental and is truly appreciated by everyone at the club.
Looking ahead to the summer, ticket sales for the Callum Simpson fight in June have got off to a flying start, with thousands of fans already securing their seats for what promises to be a spectacular event.
Our hospitality packages have completely sold out, as have large sections of the Rapid Response Telecoms East Stand.
We are confident that by the time Callum steps into the ring, we will have an electric atmosphere – one that surpasses even last summer’s memorable night.
Behind the scenes, preparations are well under way to ensure the night is a resounding success.
We’re working hard to increase the number of temporary bars and food stations across the stadium, aiming to provide a fantastic experience for fans while also generating vital revenue to support football operations.
Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting an evening with Conor Hourihane in the Natural Cement Legends Suite.
More than 100 fans attended as Conor reflected on his career and shared his memories of Barnsley, both past and present. His passion for this football club is unmistakable, and I know he’ll continue to receive your full support out on the pitch on Saturday.
Finally, on Tuesday, we were proud to take part in the EFL’s Every Minute Matters relay from Barnsley to Huddersfield, in partnership with the British Heart Foundation.
Dan Hayward from our commercial department completed an impressive 33km, joined by Ryan Eastwood from sponsors Copier Systems and boxer Callum Simpson. Congratulations to all involved – raising awareness for CPR training is a cause close to many hearts, and part of a campaign aiming to raise £3million and train 270,000 people in life-saving skills.
