BARNSLEY will look for a third win of the week when they host Lincoln City on Saturday from 3pm but Darrell Clarke wants a better performance than at Rotherham and Northampton.

The Imps are 13th, six points and three places behind the Reds and ten off the play-offs.

Michael Skubala’s side – who have struggled with injuries – have won four of their last 20 league games including a last-minute 1-0 loss at home to relegation-battling Burton Albion on Saturday.

Barnsley have won just four home league games this season while they have only taken one point and scored one goal in the last three.

Darrell Clarke said: “I really like Lincoln’s manager. They had a fantastic season last season.

“They lost a few big players.

“They are comfortable in mid-table with an outside chance of the play-offs.

“They have good players.

‘The league table shows any team can take points off of anybody.

“Our last two performances have been gritty, resilient and determined but we have to get better on the ball in a lot of areas.

“We haven’t got both parts yet but there is an opportunity to do that on Saturday.

“We have to stop giving sloppy goals away and produce some of the quality football we can produce.”

Former Barnsley under 21s player Ethan Erhahon, now a star midfielder for Lincoln, is injured while Adam Jackson, also an ex-Red, has been a regular in defence.

Barnsley won 2-1 at Sincil Bank in August thanks to goals by the now-departed Sam Cosgrove and also Marc Roberts.

That was a first league victory over the Imps since 1973 although they had only met 11 times in that period.

The two clubs have played each other 76 times in total, with Barnsley winning 34 and losing 26.

Lincoln have won three times at Oakwell over the previous two seasons, netting nine goals and conceding one.

They were 5-1 winners on March 9 last season, against a Barnsley side who would then go on a terrible run and just hold onto sixth place above Lincoln on the final day. City had won 1-0 in the league the previous season as well as 3-0 in the EFL Trophy.
