WOMBWELL came together in style to mark the end of the 2025 Great British Spring Clean with an event on Saturday.

Local councillors, volunteers from the Wombwell Womblers, the South Area Caretaker Team and South Yorkshire Police joined forces to pick over 40 bags of litter and fly-tipping from around the Woodhead Lane car park.

In addition, the South Area Team organised a family picnic and Easter Bunny trail for local children to enjoy.

A statement from Wombwell councillors Brenda Eastwood, Robert Frost and James Higginbottom said: “This year’s Great British Spring Clean in Wombwell has once again been a huge success with volunteers, council services and partner agencies coming together for a whole host of events across the ward.

“This has included family events, community engagement and lots of litter picked - cumulating in the big event in Wombwell Woods on Saturday.

“We would like to say a big thank you to all who’ve been involved but especially to the volunteers who have supported and our South Area Caretaker Team for their hard work, dedication and enthusiasm.”
