LOCALS are being encouraged to take part in a special fundraising event for Barnsley Hospice - and you’ll be 100 feet in the air.
On Saturday, May 17, supporters of the hospice will be abseiling down Barnsley College’s Old Mill Lane campus.
It’s over 100 feet in the air - and it could be a once-in-a-lifetime chance to descend the iconic red building.
Registration for the event is £50 and those taking part must raise a minimum of £200 sponsorship.
Hannah Clarkson, challenge events manager at the hospice, said: “This is a really exciting and completely unique opportunity to take in the wonderful views of Barnsley before enjoying an adrenaline-filled journey down the iconic college building.
“Each participant will be making a direct impact on the vital end of life and palliative care services we provide for the people of Barnsley and those close to them.
“You will have breathtaking views over the town in which you will be helping us provide support to.
“This fantastic opportunity wouldn’t have been possible without the brilliant support of Barnsley College and our generous sponsors Ardagh Glass, Rapid Response Telecoms and Barnsley Brickwork.”
David Akeroyd, principal and CEO at the college, added: “The hospice does incredible work, providing vital care and support to those who need it most in our community, and we’re always grateful for the chance to work alongside them.”https://www.barnsleyhospice.org/event/barnsley-hospice-abseil/
