ANIMAL care students at Barnsley College were thrilled to receive a response from legendary environmentalist Sir David Attenborough.

As part of their sustainability week, seven students put pen to paper during their English lessons, writing lessons to Attenborough to express their concerns about the local environment and wildlife.

Fast forward a couple of months, and in a heart warming turn of events, the students received a personal reply from Sir David Attenborough himself.

College bosses say this act demonstrated his kindness, dedication, and commitment to inspiring young people.

The response thanked the students and showed his appreciation for their letters, leaving a lasting impression and inspiring them to deepen their dedication to sustainability and environmental care.

GCSE English tutor Andy Wells, who sent the letters, said: “This moment has been truly inspiring for our students.

“We’d like to thank Sir David for this powerful reminder of the impact young people can have when they raise their voices for a cause they believe in.”
