BARNSLEY cyclists Imogen Wolff and Jenson Young both won senior medals at the British Cyclocross Championships this week.

Wolff, the 18-year-old from Silkstone Common who is in her first year of professional cycling, came third in the women’s race. She was 39 seconds behind the leader but more than a minute clear in the medal positions in Gravesend, Kent. Imogen posted on social media: “Not my day at National champs. Less force, more flow required.”

Imogen is building up to the World Cyclocross Championships in Liévin, France from January 31 to February 2.

Meanwhile, Hemingfield man Young, 24, finished tenth in the men’s category.

He was also part of the Spectra Racing three-man team which won gold in the team category.

Cyclocross is a winter sport which sees competitors take on muddy and hilly course, often having to carry their bikes.
