CALLUM Simpson made an emphatic defence of his British and Commonwealth titles in Sheffield on Saturday night.
Simpson, cheered on by a legion of noisy supporters, blew Birmingham’s Steed Woodall away in the second round.
He first decked the away man with an explosive combination of shots.
The away man managed to get back to his feet but was soon under pressure again and referee Mark Bates jumped in to stop the fight with just 1.56 gone.
The Barnsley fighter sported a tribute to his sister Lily-Rae with her name on his kit as he made his ringwalk.
Lily-Rae died last year after a tragic quad bike accident in Greece and Simpson has vowed to fight on in her name.
Simpson was making the first defence of the titles he won back in August on a memorable night at Oakwell.
He started fast and Woodall was soon feeling the pace as shots pierced through his guard and body punches also landed viciously.
Simpson stepped it up another gear in the second round to claim the destructive stoppage and move to 16 fights unbeaten.
Referee: Mark Bates.
Judges: Kieran McCann, Michael Alexander, Howard Foster.
