BARNSLEY FC fans turned out to support the town’s homeless this winter.
Each year, the Rucksack Project Barnsley partner with the Barnsley FC Community Trust - the charitable arm of the football club - to try and raise as many donations as possible during the winter.
Despite the 4-0 drubbing by Leyton Orient on Saturday in League One, fans still turned out to show their support.
Adie Flute, who runs the Rucksack Project in Barnsley, told the Chronicle the support of local people will never go under the radar.
He added: “We had lots come in but to be honest, overall it was less than previous years.
“That said, we are extremely grateful of absolutely everything we receive and anything and everything received makes a difference.
“We have had a few ask where they can drop things off now, and the best places are to take any donations to either the BCDP in St Mary’s Church or Action for Barnsley’s Homeless in The Dining Room Cafe in Sheffield Road - both have Facebook pages where they have their opening days and times.
“I should say thank you to Barnsley FC and their community trust, as well as our volunteers for all their support and everyone that donated - we couldn’t do it without them.”
