A NUMBER of Barnsley FC players offered their support to the local foodbank partnership earlier this month.

Youngsters Theo Chapman and Aaron Atkinson were joined by Barnsley FC Community Trust students and Toby Tyke to help sort stock, hand out leaflets and encourage locals to donate.

The Barnsley Foodbank Partnership is part of The Trussell Trust’s network of 1,200 foodbanks, working to tackle food poverty and hunger in our local communities, as well as across the UK.

It supports thousands of families in need across the borough each year.

Georgina Arnold, from the partnership, said: “We are so grateful for the support of Barnsley FC and Barnsley FC Community Trust.

“Their support through donation drives, food collections and volunteering is amazing and we can’t wait to work with them throughout the season.”

Amy Milne, from the Barnsley FC Community Trust, added: “We value our partnership with the Barnsley Foodbank Partnership and we try to help them whenever and wherever we can.

“The work they do for food poverty in the Barnsley community is unmatched.

“We are grateful to Theo and Aaron for taking the time to come and lend a helping hand and we look forward to continuing our partnership this year.”
