Callum Styles has left Barnsley for Championship club West Bromwich Albion on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old Hungary international has played 151 games for the Reds across the last six years but, since relegation to League One in 2022, has been often seeking to move and was loaned out to Millwall and Sunderland in the previous two seasons.

He had been left out of the Reds’ squads so far this season with head coach Darrell Clarke saying he wasn’t in the right frame of mind due to interest from other clubs.

The deal was initially thought to include a striker – thought to be Modou Faal – moving the other way but he is not understood now to be involved in the Styles move.
