A BARNSLEY family are raising money for the hospital in memory of their nephew who died aged two.
Annie Eddy, from Kingstone, reached out to Barnsley Hospital Charity with an idea to buy the toy bunny rabbits in memory of her beloved nephew Noah Blake Rothery who died in November last year.
She said: “Noah was born in Bedford Hospital with several health complications which limited his motion and physical health.
“He was transferred to Addenbrookes Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and sadly passed away there on November 21.
“One thing he showed he could do and with such confidence, was his ability to fight to live.
“Noah fought for two whole years against a rare condition he had called Barakat Syndrome.
“Alongside this, he also had hypoparathyroidism and other medical issues.”
When Noah was sent to Addenbrookes, he was bought a toy bunny named ‘Bunbun’ - and it went everywhere with him.
The family are subsequently raising money to purchase the bunnies which will be donated to the neonatal and children’s wards at Barnsley Hospital.
Annie added: “It is important for me and my family to do something to honour Noah’s memory and hopefully bring some comfort to those parents and carers in a similar situation.”
Jane Mills, Barnsley Hospital’s charity development manager, said: “We are deeply grateful to Annie for her generosity and the lasting impact this initiative will have on families in need.
“The heartfelt tribute not only honours Noah’s memory but also brings hope and comfort to many.
“Thank you, Annie, for your incredible support.”
