AROUND 650 people turned out for a fun-filled adventure day organised by the charity LimbBo.
The sixth annual LimbBo Adventure Day took place last week at Cawthorne Cricket Club, attracting hundreds of people with some travelling from as far as Germany to join in the event.
It’s the biggest event the charity for limb-different children has ever organised and received an amazing response from both attendees and volunteers alike.
Out of the hundreds who attended there were 128 limb-different children and their families, who enjoyed accessible sports activities, games, and a visit from the England Amputee Football Association.
Mayor John Clarke also appeared, showing his support for the local charity.
LimbBo co-founder Jane Hewitt said: “For some families this could be the fourth or fifth time they’ve been and parents tell us that their children refer to LimbBo Day in the same way as they do Christmas Eve with many of them counting ‘how many sleeps to LimbBo Day’.
“No-one hides their limb difference at Adventure Day, no-one stares, no one comments and for the first time in their lives our limb different children are in the majority.
“We had 128 children with a limb difference along with their siblings, parents and often grandparents, as LimbBo is a family charity and we recognise the importance that the whole family plays.”
