A SIX-YEAR-OLD who was ‘born to be something special’ has already won countless dancing medals as she competes against people twice her age.

Amelia Rose Nelson from Thurnscoe has loved dancing ever since she could take her first steps.

Her passion was quickly noticed by her mum Tanya Nelson, who knew instantly that she had to take the youngster to dance school.

She told the Chronicle: “When I was younger I used to do ballroom and Latin dance at Karen Byron School of Dance, the same school Amelia goes to now.

“When she was little she was always dancing, as soon as she could walk she would dance.

“So when she was two I took her to the mums and toddlers classes, and by the time she was four she was competing.”

Specialising in ballroom, Latin and sequence dancing, this passionate dancer has already been crowned the Four-Year-Old All England Champion, Under Eights’ Champion of Champions, Under Eights’ Champions of Tomorrow, Under Six Champion for the English Open Solo Championship and is competing in under 12 tournaments now.

She has also gone on to build quite an online following, with 2,000 Instagram followers staying up to date with her incredible journey.

“To say she’s only six years old, she’s so passionate,” Tanya added.

“If you tell her that you can go on holiday or go to a competition she would choose the competition.

“I think she’s going to end up being quite famous with this - it’s like she was born to be something special.”
