AN upcoming comedy night promises laughs for a good cause.
Next Saturday’s event at the Old School House on Blackburn Lane will bring eight comedians together to raise funds for men’s support charity Andy’s Man Club.
The charity provides free-to-access group sessions, where attendees can talk about their feelings without fear of judgement.
Organiser Mark Spencer told the Chronicle: “I go to the sessions in Barnsley every week.
“I see a lot of men who go there for the first time and it looks like they’ve got no hope, but in a few weeks they’ve changed completely.
“This lets me give something back.”
On the night there will also be a raffle, offering multiple different gift vouchers for local companies.
“We’ve got so many comedians coming I’ve not even found space for myself to perform yet,” Mark added.
“Our last performance will be by Ashley Frieze who’s been performing for 20 years.
“He’s a musical comedian and is really talented.”
