BARNSLEY railway station was used more than a million times in 2023 - making it the busiest station across the borough.
A total of 1.2 million entries and exits were recorded over the last year at the station in the town centre.
This was followed by Wombwell station, which saw people enter and exit 171,000 times.
In third was Elsecar with 155,000, and Penistone was just behind with 142,000 entries and exits.
Rounding out the top five was Darton station, with 102,000 separate visits.
The busiest stations outside London were Birmingham New Street, Leeds and Manchester Piccadilly.
