BARNSLEY Central MP Dan Jarvis has been appointed by Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer as the Shadow Minister for Security.
Following the opposition’s party reshuffle, Dan will now serve on the frontbench - and should Labour win the next general election he could have a position in the cabinet.
He said: “It’s an honour to be asked by Sir Keir Starmer to serve on the front bench.
“The first duty of any government is to keep the country safe.
“I will work tirelessly to keep our people safe and protect our national interests.
“There is nothing more important than the security of our nation, and I am very grateful for the opportunity to serve in this role.”
