TWO BARNSLEY people will come up against each other when England face Nigeria in the women’s World Cup in Australia.
The last 16 game is due to take place at 8.30am on Monday at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.
Striker Bethany England, from Kingstone, helped England out of their group as winners with her first two appearances in major tournaments.
The Tottenham Hotspur star, 30, came off the bench in the 1-0 win over Denmark on Friday then the 6-1 thrashing on China on Tuesday.
She now has 23 England caps and has scored 11 goals.
They now take on Nigeria, who have Kyle Quigley in their coaching staff.
The 50-year-old is originally from Northern Ireland but has lived in Barnsley for more than two decades.
Nigeria caused a major upset last week when they beat Australia 3-2, in between 0-0 draws with Canada and Ireland which put them second in their group.
