North Gawber are the only Barnsley team in the semi-finals of this year's Sheffield Senior Cup following a 2-1 shock derby win at Athersley Rec on Wednesday.
Former Barnsley FC striker Emile Sinclair showed the finishing prowess which once saw him net ten goals in a Championship season for Peterborough United by putting Athersley ahead with his first goal for the club.
But, in front of a crowd of more than 200, Rob Cartwright and Carey Welford won it for Gawber who play two divisions below their hosts in the County Senior League.
Gawber manager Dave Simms said: “We are absolutely buzzing. The lads were outstanding from start to finish, playing good football and showing great team spirit and desire and workrate to come from behind.
“The two lads who scored have been with us from the start like most of them. It’s the best win I’ve had with this team. I don’t see why we can’t get to the final now.”
