TALENTED young designer Quinn Plews bagged himself an Amazon Fire tablet computer after winning a competition to design a new logo for his school.
From September Holy Rood Catholic Primary will use the new logo designed by Quinn on its uniforms, letters and website. His hand-drawn design was streamlined into a format that can be reproduced for a variety of formats with the help of nearby Horizon Community College.
Holy Rood head teacher Karen Dobson said: "We held a whole school competition and asked pupils, parents, carers and parishioners to get involved if they wished.
"We received lots of designs and the school governors whittled them down to a shortlist, and our school council chose Quinn's design."
He received the tablet from teaching agency Provide Education. Quinn's great-grandma Rai Plews helped him with the design.
"He just did it on paper, no computers," she said. "I'm so pleased for him, and I think this computer will really help him. He's very talented, he can play the piano really well, and he can even play the church organ. We're so proud of him."
