THE Bard of Barnsley is being ‘upgraded’ to ‘Poet Laureate for Barnsley’.
Ian McMillan said he is ‘delighted’ to have been asked to represent the borough as Poet Laureate for Barnsley.
It is part of a wider £110,000 literacy project, although Ian will not be paid for the role.
“It’s a great honour, but I suppose in many ways it’s making official what I do already,” said Ian.
