A RAILWAY drama filmed in Barnsley that was touted as being ITV’s new ‘flagship’ show will not be returning to the nation’s screens.
Jericho was on track to be a success after winning praise from TV critics and pulling in millions of viewers when it premiered in January but ITV bosses have confirmed it will not be returning to its schedule.
A farmer’s field in Wortley was transformed into the makeshift shanty town of Jericho and the surrounding Wharncliffe Chase formed part of the stunning backdrop for the ambitious ‘Wild West’ railway tale set in the Yorkshire Dales in the 1870s.
Written by by Steve Thompson, of Sherlock and Doctor Who fame, and starring Call the Midwife’s Jessica Raine, it told the story of those living in Jericho, one of the sprawling shanty towns which sprung up to house those working on a viaduct.
