THREE Barnsley MPs have faced a backlash after voting for air strikes in Syria.

Dan Jarvis, Angela Smith and Michael Dugher voted with the government for the strikes to be taken in the fight against the so-called Islamic State and the first missions took place soon after the vote on Wednesday evening.

In the hours beforehand, protesters gathered outside Barnsley town hall bearing placards emblazoned ‘Don’t bomb Syria’.

In a joint statement, the three MPs said it was not a decision which they had made lightly.
