THE Mayor will lead the borough’s service of remembrance on Sunday to acknowledge the ultimate sacrifice made by the town’s service men and women.
Mayor Coun Brian Mathers will be joined outside Barnsley Town Hall by civic dignitaries including the vice Lord Lieutenant of South Yorkshire and the High Sheriff of South Yorkshire.
The parade will be called to attention a few minutes before 11am by the parade marshal and the traditional service will start at 11am with the national two minutes’ silence, which will be marked by a bugler. Members of the public are asked to be in position by 10.50am.
The roads around the town hall will be closed from 10.30am and reopen after the service and parade, at about noon. Diversions will be in place.
