HOLY ROOD headteacher John Gregson has retired after 13 years.
Born and raised in London, his teaching career has spanned 25 years - most of those have been at Holy Rood Catholic Primary on Shaw Street.
Mr Gregson moved to town after meeting his wife who was born in Cawthorne.
Following his retirement, Mr Gregson hopes to spend more time with his family - he has four grandchildren and another on the way.
One of his hobbies is photography and he hopes to spend more time doing this, as well as travelling and gardening.
He is also planning to write a book about his father, also named John Gregson, who was an actor in the 50s and 60s and appeared in films such as Genevieve and Whisky Galore!.
