PENISTONE people have taken the plight of toddler James Gibbons to heart and helped raise £11,000 to help his parents care for him.
James, two, was born with severe cerebral palsy which, among other complications means he is blind and deaf.
Parents Lisa and Craig Gibbons have recently had to sell their much loved cottage at Thurgoland to move to a bungalow in Penistone which is to be adapted for his growing needs.
Lisa said: "We really cannot thank the residents of Penistone and surrounding area enough for their generosity. Craig and I are overwhelmed with such kindness. People have been stopping me in the street or coming to the door with donations."
