A FORMER cyclist for Great Britain set up a cycling team to raise money for cystic fibrosis after his daughter was born with the life-shortening condition.
Martin Dainty has been nominated for a Proud of Barnsley award in the charity fundraiser category for creating Team Cystic Fibrosis.
He has been nominated by Rachael Webb, team chairman, who said the team was on course to raise £50,000 this year.
Martin's daughter Molly was diagnosed shortly after she was born.
Bu he said Molly, now nine, was 'bright as a button and doing just fine.'
A staggering £24,000 was raised when the team organised the 65 Roses Holme Moss Classic which saw 300 cyclists set off under police escort and complete a 65-mile challenge which is named so because young children find 65 roses easier to say than cystic fibrosis.
