BARNSLEY FC women lost 4-1 away at Chorley on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds went 2-0 down before half-time and conceded a third shortly after the break.

Louise Biggins pulled one back in the 64th minute but Chorley sealed the win in added time with a fourth.

The team are currently 7th in Division One North, having picked up five wins, five draws and nine losses.

They are seven points clear of the drop zone.

Barnsley Women’s Football Club fared better in their Division One Midlands tie on Sunday.

They beat bottom club Lincoln 4-0 away, moving the side up to sixth in the table.

Goals from Demi Barai, Laura Bartrup, Jemima Jarvis and Jodie Michalska sealed the win for the team who are now due to face Just Football Women FC in the Sheffield and Hallamshire FA County Women’s Senior Cup on Sunday.

Manager Craige Richardson said: “I was pleased with the strong start today.

“The girls applied themselves and at half time we deserved to be 3-0 up, if not more.

“We slipped into second gear in the second half and the game turned more scrappy the longer it went on.

“Overall I’m pleased with the three points and a clean sheet and it gives us something to build on for the next set of games.”
