A POLICE officer from Barnsley who was dismissed from the force and placed on the barred list following a hearing last year has appealed the decision.

PC Jade Bergan was an officer between 2022 and 2023 but undertook a number of checks with untruthful or misleading codes, according to an accelerated misconduct hearing which took place on September 27 last year.

However, an appeal tribunal will take place tomorrow (Friday) at 10am.

A report states: “The former officer was subject of an accelerated misconduct hearing on September 27.

“It was alleged that between 2022 and 2023 the former officer carried out a number of police system checks without a legitimate policing purpose, with untruthful or misleading reason codes.

“The panel found that the former officer breached the standards of professional behaviour in respect of the allegations, and that the breaches amounted to gross misconduct.

“The outcome of the hearing was that the former officer was dismissed without notice.

“The former officer has appealed the findings of the panel at stage one of the hearing.”
