LEGENDARY Barnsley barber Tony Batty has swapped his Father Christmas costume for an Easter Bunny outfit as he launches his latest appeal.

Tony, whose shop is based on Racecommon Road, has been supporting locals for a number of years.

The dust has only just settled on his Christmas appeal which saw thousands of toys donated to young children across the down - but he’s officially launched the Easter egg appeal.

And once again he’s hoping it’ll be his biggest yet.

He told the Chronicle: “Every year we do the Easter egg appeal and last year we managed to raise around 2,000 eggs.

“Hopefully we’ll be able to do even more this year.

“We’ve already had a donation of £150 from The Soul Lounge.

“We just want to go bigger and better than last year.

“It’s just a snowball effect.

“They’ll be handed over to hospitals in Barnsley and Sheffield, the hospice and local organisations that are helping children who would not normally get an egg this Easter.”

Anyone wanting to donate should do so at Tony’s shop, with a deadline for donations set for April 14.

“We just want to put a smile of a child’s face,” he added.
