BARNSLEY Council has launched its new warden team in a bid to improve safety for residents in the town centre.
The new team will work alongside the current town centre warden teams, strengthening the council’s commitment to creating a vibrant and welcoming space for all.
The new wardens will offer a visible and professional presence tailored to the specific needs of the Glass Works as it continues to grow as a key destination.
Equipped with specialist training, they will provide reassurance to shoppers, businesses, and families, while acting as a deterrent to antisocial behaviour.
They will work alongside South Yorkshire Police.
Coun Wendy Cain, cabinet spokesperson for public health and communities, said: “Our new warden team reflects Barnsley Council’s dedication to ensuring the Glass Works and wider town centre remains a vibrant, thriving destination that supports our town centre vision and Barnsley as the place of possibilities.
“By joining forces with South Yorkshire Police and our wider Safer Neighbourhood Service, we’re offering visitors and businesses the reassurance of a highly trained, approachable team who are here to help keep Barnsley safe and welcoming for everyone.”
