BARNSLEY'S game at Northampton Town has been called off due to a frozen pitch.
Following a pitch inspection conducted by the referee at 12pm today (Friday), the playing surface was deemed unplayable, with the conditions posing a risk to player safety.
A club spokesperson said: "Despite efforts to mitigate the impact of the cold weather, the freezing temperatures have rendered the pitch unsuitable for the match to proceed as planned.
"A new date for the rearranged fixture will be announced in due course.
"All tickets purchased for the original game will remain valid for the rescheduled fixture, and further information regarding the new date will be communicated to fans as soon as it is confirmed.
