GEORGIE Gent admits the start to his Barnsley career was frustrating but is now enjoying playing every week.
The 21-year-old left wing-back joined the Reds from Blackburn Rovers in the summer but did not feature regularly in the opening months of the season.
He started two league fixtures in August but was taken off after 25 minutes then at half-time and did not play at all for eight games.
But Gent broke back into the side in October and has started the last nine league games.
“It was always the plan for me to be eased in,” said Gent, whose only previous experience had been with Motherwell last season.
“It was frustrating at first but I had to stick with it and be patient. I got myself into the team. But I have to stay in it, keep working hard and be consistent.”
On his time at Barnsley in general, Gent said: “I am loving it. The lads and staff and been really welcoming since day one which has given me confidence on the pitch.”
Gent and Stephen Humphrys’ dancing celebrations have gone viral.
“We drive in together every day and he’s a good lad.
“We have that bond and I think it shows on the pitch.
“We link up well. Hopefully I can assist him to score more goals.”
Barnsley were dumped out of the FA Cup on Saturday after losing on penalties to Bristol Rovers.
“It’s gutting and really annoying. We just have to forget about it now and focus on the league. We have big games coming up and we have to be positive.”
