IMOGEN Wolff is hoping for a solid first year as a professional cyclist in 2025.

After winning world medals at junior level, the 18-year-old from Silkstone Common has just started her professional career.

She has recently been competing in cyclocross, the winter sport which sees participants race around often muddy terrain and carry their bikes up hills.

It is expected to be announced as a Winter Olympic sport from 2030 which, if it happens, will be added to Imogen’s list of career goals which also include competing at the summer Olympics and the classic road races.

Having been at a Great Britain training camp in Spain in December, she is currently competing across Europe – including flying out on Christmas Day to an event – and is building up to the Cyclocross World Championships later this month in France.

She is in her first year with top professional team Visma-Lease A Bike.

Imogen said: “I am just working out where my level is. I am not going to put a target on it yet.

“I just want to consistently perform at my peak and see what happens.

“It is definitely a big step but I am really enjoying it and feel really supported by the team which makes it a lot more manageable.

“I want to help the team in some nice races around the classics, and time-trialling will be a big thing for me.

“It’s a process and it will take time.”

2024 was a successful year for Imogen, who won two gold medals representing Great Britain at the World Track Championships in China.

“It was one of my best years and I definitely grew a lot.

“There were a lot of cool opportunities and cool races. I improved a lot physically as well.”

Imogen finished third this week in a cyclocross race in Loenhout, Belgium.
