BOTH the Barnsley fighters in action at the Metrodome on Saturday evening recorded points victories.

Brampton’s Dempsey Wale extended his winning record to 13 straight victories (with one KO).

Wale got the better of Mexico’s Erick Omar Lopez in what proved to be a useful exercise against a much shorter but wily operator.

Dempsey, younger brother of former British champion Josh, controlled the bout from centre ring and was able to get off some shots to the body and produce some hurtful inside work to win 60-54 in the view of referee Jamie Kirkpatrick.

The same referee oversaw Wombwell’s Jake Jon Cleary’s entry into the paid ranks.

Cleary was the busier fighter and seemed to land the bulk of the shots but was made to sweat the decision as Helm improved as the contest wore on.

The big Barnsley FC fan got the verdict 39-38.

Elsewhere on the nine-fight bill, Sheffield brother and sister Red and Bianca Johnson both gained points victories.

Red, a former Barnsley Star amateur, saw off Rotherham’s Dale Kellam 40-36.

Bianca eased by Aberdeen’s Shelly MacDonald by the same margin.

Both siblings were cheered on by the ringside former IBF welterweight world champion Kell Brook.

There were points wins for Wakefield duo Brandon Pickup and Keanan Holford.

Pickup, who had Barnsley's reigning British and Commonwealth super-middleweight title holder Callum Simpson cheering him on, opened up the show with a triumph against Bradford's Ryan Labourn.

Mohammed Subhaan, also from Bradford, scored a sixth round TKO win over Nicaraguan Eliecer Quezada.

Tommy Sams, from Doncaster, edged past Cornishman Dylan Courtney 39-38.

Paul Clewes, another Doncaster fighter signed to the Wale family stable, ended the show with a TKO victory over Jake Bray.

Bray, also from Doncaster, was outmuscled and succumbed to Clewes’ power in the second round as he hit the deck three times before a halt was called with just five seconds left in the round.
