ALL the candidates for the Dodworth by-election - which was called following a councillor’s resignation - have now been confirmed.
The election is set to take place December 12 and is to replace the position left after Sam Christmas’ resignation, who represented the Liberal Democrat party.
Voters wanting to apply for a postal vote must do so by 5pm on November 27, and the deadline for applying for a proxy vote is a week later, at 5pm on December 4.
All five candidates up for the position have now been confirmed.
They are Steven John Burkinshaw of the Conservative Party, Eric Benson Hodgson of Reform UK, Kate Hutchinson representing Labour, Trevor Mayne for Green and Andy Waters of the Liberal Democrats.
Sarah Norman, chief executive and returning officer for Barnsley Council, said: “We’d like to thank Coun Christmas for his service on the council since 2023 and the support he’s provided to the people of Dodworth.
“This by-election is an important opportunity for residents to have their say on who represents you and makes decisions about issues that directly affect day-to-day life here in Barnsley.
“I urge all eligible voters to take part in this democratic process by casting your vote on Thursday December 12.”
