Barnsley are determined to improve their faltering home form when they host Charlton Athletic from 7.45pm on Tuesday.
The Reds ended a four-match winless run with a 2-1 success at Blackpool on Saturday.
They are unbeaten at Oakwell in five games in all competitions but have only won once there in the league this season, against Bristol Rovers last month.
That is also their only home victory in the league since February, a run of ten points from 11 games – with six from five so far this season being the 19th best record in the division.
Head coach Darrell Clarke criticised the two most recent home performances in draws with Stockport County and Wycombe Wanderers, with the attendance for the last the lowest in a league fixture at Oakwell since 2022.
Clarke told the Chronicle: “The Stockport game and Northampton (draws after leading) game still stick in my throat - that’s four points.
“We have to get rid of the mentality we have had at home. We have to be on the front foot and get after teams, be quicker with our attacking play. We have been working on those things and hopefully we see it.”
Clarke added: “We have to make our home ground a fortress. It goes back to the form last season to an extent.
“We’ve had good performances here – Sheffield United in the cup and Bristol Rovers. We need to be consistent. Everyone has to play their part – the players, myself, supporters which they have been doing. Hopefully they are loud and proud and we put a performance on for them.”
Charlton currently have 17 points from 11 games so are 12th – a point and four places below the Reds.
Under former Luton and Stoke manager Nathan Jones, the London club won their first three league games of the season and lost just one of the first six, but then suffered three successive defeats.
They then inflicted a first league loss of the season on leaders Birmingham City before the international break, and drew 1-1 at home to Stockport County on Saturday.
They have lost their last two away games at Stevenage and Bristol Rovers, after winning 1-0 at Wigan and Shrewsbury earlier in the season.
Clarke said: “It’s a tough game. It’s another club with great infrastructure and resources to do well at this level and a great manager at this level.”
Charlton have midfielder Luke Berry who spent the 2014/15 season at Oakwell, playing 37 games and scoring twice, before playing in the Premier League with Luton last season then moving to the Addicks. He is their second top-scorer so far this season with two goals.
The clubs have met 56 times, with Barnsley winning 18 and losing 22.
Last season, the Reds drew 1-1 at Oakwell then lost 2-1 in London, with Adam Phillips scoring in both games.
The away meeting, in April, saw the hosts miss a late penalty for a third goal, with coach Jon Stead sent off for disputing that and other decisions.
Charlton have not won in any of their last five visits to Oakwell – with three draws and two losses – while their only win in the last ten since 1995 was a 6-0 success in 2013.
