The American defender has missed the last two games since coming off with a nasty gash to the head in the 3-0 loss at Stevenage on September 14. He was diagnosed with concussion and felt ill in the days after the head injury.

It is unclear exactly when he will complete the protocols and if it will be in time for Saturday evening’s game which will be more than a fortnight after he sustained the injury. The Reds then host Wycombe on October 1.

After the weekend game at Burton, head coach Darrell Clarke said: “He has to go through the concussion protocols and we’ll see how it goes daily.”

Meanwhile, Fabio Jalo is also an injury concern after aggravating the shoulder problem he picked up in pre-season during the 2-1 win at Burton.

The 18-year-old, who came off the bench, had to come back off 24 minutes later. He tried to convince staff to let him carry on when the shoulder ‘popped back in’ on his way off the pitch – as confirmed post-match by Clarke – but he was replaced by Kyran Lofthouse before both teams scored late on.

ACTION FOR LOANED-OUT PLAYERS

Teenage Barnsley striker Josiah Dyer has been loaned to Northern Premier League side Gainsborough Trinity for an initial month.

The Montserrat international, who turns 20 on Tuesday of this week, came off the bench in a 1-1 draw with Stockton. He is yet to play a league game for the Reds but has come off the bench in the EFL Trophy.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Kieren Flavell celebrated his 21st birthday with a clean sheet in a 4-0 win for Mickleover Sports over Blyth Spartans.

Jack Shepherd helped Bradford City keep a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw with AFC Wimbledon in League Two. It was the defender’s first league start for the Bantams.

Kacper Łopatą came off after 82 minutes in Ross County’s 3-3 draw at home to St Johnstone in the SPL, with his side 2-1 down.

U18S DRAW DERBY THRILLER

Barnsley under 18s drew 3-3 at home to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

The Reds led 2-0 but found themselves 3-2 down before levelling.

They are due to host Birmingham City tomorrow from midday, while Barnsley under 21s are due to visit Wigan Athletic the same day.

FREE TICKETS FOR FANS WHO WENT TO OLD TRAFFORD

Barnsley are giving all fans who travelled to last week's 7-0 loss at Manchester United a free ticket for Saturday's game with Stockport County at Oakwell.

The move is 'a gesture of appreciation for your incredible support' after more than 6,000 were in a very noisy away end last week.

Season ticket holders who recieve a free ticket can pass it on to a friend or family member.
