A LOCAL councillor will meet with Stagecoach bosses next week after he was inundated with complaints by local residents.

Coun Kevin Osborne, who represents the Darfield ward, believes that Stagecoach’s changes to the bus timetable last month have not worked as planned.

He said he has been contacted by locals who say buses are regularly late, cancelled or simply drive past them without stopping.

It has subsequently led to him arranging a meeting with bosses next week - and he’s hopeful he’ll find a solution for locals.

He told the Chronicle: “Since September began my email inbox has become full of individual stories of cancelled, late running and full to capacity bus services in Darfield.

“Stagecoach have introduced a new timetable on August 31 and it’s clearly not working as planned.

“I’m also receiving reports of school pupils reluctant to catch a scheduled school bus due to bullying and choosing to catch a service bus instead, adding to the overcapacity.

“My meeting with Stagecoach next week will hopefully offer an insight into possible solutions.

“Darfield deserves better.”
