POLICE officers have now ended their search for a Barnsley woman who has been missing for two months - but the investigation remains open.
Claire, 44, was last seen in the Silkstone area of Barnsley on Monday, June 24 at the junction of Silkstone Lane and Bull Haw Lane.
The police have not released Claire’s surname.
She was wearing grey trousers, a light grey or mint green jumper and a long, black gilet.
Police believed Claire was still in the Silkstone area of the town - but also conducted patrols in woodlands and with mountain rescue teams.
Officers have also been in contact with local veterinary practices, and have shared a new appeal through them, as it’s known that Claire enjoys wild camping and there’s hope that she may be recognised by people walking their dogs in the green and wooded areas around Silkstone.
Now, the police have issued an update, saying that while they received a ‘great deal of information and reported sightings’ from the public, they have been unable to locate Claire.
They added that they have ‘exhausted all current lines of enquiry’ and that they have now ended their searches.
However, their investigation remains open and South Yorkshire Police have said they will follow up any information which comes to light.
Detective Sergeant Rebecca Robinson said: “Our thoughts remain with Claire’s family and friends and we remain hopeful that Claire will be found.
“I would like to thank all those who have shared our appeals, offered words of support, and provided information.”
Anyone with any information on Claire’s disappearance should contact the police on 101, quoting incident number 440 of June 24.
