BARNSLEY-based artist Adam Briscoe is hoping to become the town’s answer to Sheffield’s Pete McKee - and he’s well on his way after completing a number of eye-catching murals across the town.

The 33-year-old, originally from Wombwell but now living in Penistone, said it’s fantastic how proud people are to be from Barnsley - and he’s hoping to make them even prouder with his art work.

His long list of work includes a mural at The Garrison, work at HCAT’s headquarters and bright art work of Parkway Cinema and Penistone Paramount.

He showcased his work on The Arcade last weekend - and it’s been seen across the globe recently.

“Saturday was about showcasing all my work,” he said.

“I was at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival the week before doing street art.

“It’s a weird game is art - you’ve just got to put yourself out there.

“You’ve just got to push yourself.

“I’ve had people from America and Canada get in touch asking to buy some of my work which is great.

“I take a lot of inspiration from Pete McKee - I want to be Barnsley’s answer to him.

But after completing work across Barnsley - he’s gearing up to for his biggest challenge yet.

He added: “I’m going to be doing a mural at entrance to The Glass Works in the next few weeks.

“That’s really exciting for me - I’m looking forward to it.

“I’m hoping to do it on a Saturday so some people can come out and watch.

“I’ve also got big plans to do something at the motorway roundabout in Dodworth - perhaps a ‘Welcome to Barnsley’ mural.

“I think that would be a really cool thing to do.”
